Richard L. Waldrup

September 19, 1951 — May 25, 2025

Chelsea

Richard Waldrup, age 73, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 25, 2025. Born on September 19, 1951, in Inola, Oklahoma, he was the son of Marvin and Alfie (Monroe) Waldrup.

Richard spent his early years in Inola before his family relocated to Chelsea, where he graduated from Chelsea High School in 1970. Following graduation, he attended Tulsa Welding School, setting the foundation for a lifelong career as a skilled tradesman. He soon joined the Boilermaker Union Local 592, a move that launched him into a career that would take him across the country—and even beyond it. His work carried him to states such as Nevada, Iowa, Illinois, Colorado, and Texas, and even to Aruba for an overseas project. It was also where he earned the nickname "Rerun" as everyone in the boilermakers referred to him. Richard retired in 2006 due to health issues, concluding a career marked by dedication and craftsmanship.

On May 12, 1990, Richard married Judy Mitchell. The couple made their home in Whiteoak before settling in Chelsea. Together, they shared a love for travel and spent many memorable moments exploring the beauty of the United States.

Richard enjoyed the simpler pleasures of life—fishing, watching classic westerns like Gunsmoke and anything starring John Wayne, and passionately supporting his beloved Oklahoma Sooners. He made it known that there was no place in his heart for the Dallas Cowboys or Oklahoma State Cowboys.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Alfie Waldrup, and granddaughter Elizabeth.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy Waldrup; children, Mark Proctor and wife Lisa, Michael Waldrup, and Melissa Boyle and husband Mike Boyle; grandchildren, Cory, Brittany, Dakota, Sydney, Nathan, Dalton, Daylon, Delanie, Bailey, Mike Jr., and Nathan; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Richard will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love for family, and his sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
