It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Ricky Hammill whose life was defined by his passion, humor, and deep love for family. Ricky was born in Tulsa, Ok on May 24, 1964 to Charles and Georgia Hammill.
He was a man who truly lived life with his hands and heart fully invested in the things he loved. A dedicated gearhead, he found joy in fishing, wrenching on cars, and anything with an engine. Motorcycles, dirt bikes, and trail riding brought him endless happiness—especially the cherished times spent taking his two boys to Appalachian Bay to ride.
He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching baseball, softball, football, and all forms of motorsports. Nothing brought him greater pride than watching his sons compete, especially seeing his son Josh pitch baseball in college—a moment he held close to his heart.
He loved the simple pleasures in life: long days spent in the garage, working with his hands, or just being outdoors. His work ethic was evident throughout his life, from his time in construction and remodeling homes to operating heavy equipment—work he genuinely loved. He also gave back to his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Tiawah Fire Department, serving with dedication and pride.
A true animal lover, he had a special place in his heart for dogs. Rarely was there a time in his life without a loyal four-legged companion by his side.
He will also be fondly remembered for the joy he brought to even the smallest members of the family—his grand dogs. They knew him simply as “Grandpa.” At the sound of his name, they would run to the gate in excitement, eagerly awaiting his arrival. Their enthusiasm was well-earned, as he rarely showed up without sausage biscuits in hand. It was this loving routine that earned him the unforgettable nickname, “Biscuit Man.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia Hammill and Charles Hammill.
He is survived by his sister, Kelli Blohm; his son Adam Hammill and wife Megan; his son Josh Hammill and wife Emily; his grandson Isaac Hammill; and a grandson on the way, Carter Hammill; nephews, Parker Blohm and Taylor Blohm; Companion and friend Brenda and her son Jeb.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
