Ruby Joann "Jodie" Bretz

Ruby Joann “Jodie” Bretz, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Jodie was born on May 24, 1958, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Howard and Marilyn (Waldrup) Bretz. She was raised in Tulsa and later moved with her family to the Mannford area, where she graduated from high school with the Class of 1976.

Following her graduation, Jodie began a working career that would take her across several states. She spent many years in the hotel industry, living and working in places such as Wyoming, Colorado and Missouri. Her love for travel and new experiences eventually led her to Killdeer, North Dakota, where she lived for a time near her brother.

Jodie later returned to Oklahoma, settling in Oklahoma City, where she worked as a researcher for a local attorney. During this time, her mother also relocated to Oklahoma City, and Jodie faithfully cared for her. Approximately four years ago, Jodie and her mother moved to Claremore to be closer to family.

In her spare time, Jodie found joy in the outdoors. She especially loved the mountains, where she enjoyed hiking and exploring. She also enjoyed boating and fishing. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted member of Westwood Pentecostal Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Marilyn Bretz, and brother Howard Bretz.

She is survived by her brother, Ivan Bretz and wife Suporn; her nieces and nephews, Derek Bretz, Brandon Bretz, Tiger Klongdee, Jennifer Paul, Heather Bretz, and Naylor Bretz; as well as her great-nieces and nephews, Devon, Dylan, Captain and Iva.

Jodie will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her love of family, and her caring and faithful heart.
