Obituary for Ruth Ann Davenport

Ruth Ann Davenport was born to Jack and Lorraine Vines on May 16, 1951, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She attended Allen Schools before later moving to Quinton, Oklahoma, where she played basketball and met her future husband, Gene Davenport, in 1968. They graduated together in 1970 and were married the following year, in 1971.

In 1972, their first son, Brian, was born in Ponca City. The young family later moved to Tulsa, where Ruth worked at a local Albertsons while caring for her growing household. In 1981, Ruth and Gene purchased land in Inola, Oklahoma, where they built the family home. After settling there, Ruth became a full-time homemaker, dedicating her time to raising her children and creating a warm, loving home. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and sewing.

Her family continued to grow with the birth of her second son, Ryan, in 1985, and her third son, Nathan, in 1988, completing their family of five.

In 1997, as her sons grew older, Ruth began cooking for the Inola branch of Meals on Wheels. Her dedication and kindness soon led her to manage the branch, a role she held for several years. Many in the community fondly remember Ruth for her friendly conversation, warm smile, and the comforting meals she provided.

In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed antiquing, collecting gemstones, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, kind heart, and the joy she brought to those around her.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Davenport; her brothers, Jerry and David Vines; and her parents, Jack and Lorraine Vines.

She is survived by her brothers, Jack and Robert Vines; her three sons, Brian Davenport, Ryan Davenport, and Nathan Davenport; and her beloved grandchildren, Caden Davenport, Ella Davenport, and Gavin Davenport.
