Shirley Jean Fry Munday was born March 22, 1937 to Glen Melvin Fry and Sylvia Irene Rains Fry Messchaert. She married Vance L. Munday the love of her life at the age of 17. Together they had four children, 8+ grandchildren and multiple great-grandchildren.
Ricky Munday, wife Cathy and their son, Derek, Deborah Lucas, husband Lester and her son Jack Ryan Bolgren, Michael Munday, wife Tamra, children: Michael, Brandon and Nicole, Tonya Lesseg, children: Skyla, Freddy, Landon, Justice, Lily , and many great- grandchildren.
Shirley was raised in Stillwater, Okla by her father and her mother, spending most of her young life with her paternal grandparents of Stillwater. After graduating from high school, she married Vance Munday. She and Vance moved to San Diego, California where Vance served in the Navy. They then moved to Bremington, Washington until Vance was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1957 having welcomed Rickey and Debra into their family. They then moved back to Guthrie, Oklahoma then Pampa, Texas, OKC, Oklahoma and then settling down in Edmond, adding Michael and Tonya to their family.
She worked as a bookkeeper for several companies including Empire Drilling Co., Munday & Pierce Drilling Co , real estate sales for Sooner Log homes of Edmond, that she, her husband and family owned and constructed. Then continued working at Telefloral Co.
She spent 68 yrs of her life married to her best friend, Vance. They loved spending time with their children and later grandchildren, traveling with Vance, reading, gardening, dancing . She and Vance could really cut a rug. She also taught her sons to dance at the street dances downtown Edmond after long days at the rodeo.
She enjoyed her vacations in Hawaii, California and renewing their wedding vows in Juneau, Alaska with family.
She was a wonderful role model as a mother, mother-in-law and Nana. She left us the morning of January 11, 2026 in Claremore were she resided after Vance's passing. She resided peacefully at Claremore Skilled Nursing Home. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Rickey Munday. She will be greatly missed.
