Stanley Prather

October 16, 1943 — December 21, 2025

Claremore

Stanley was born on October 16, 1943, in Del Norte, Colorado, to Earl D and Arrillia “Imogene” (Danner) Prather. He spent part of his childhood in Joplin, Missouri, before moving to Tulsa during his senior year of high school. He graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1963.

On July 5, 1963, Stanley married LuAnne, and to this union two children were born, Anita and Allen. Later in life, Stanley married Gloria (Robertson) on November 22, 1981, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Claremore.

Stanley was known as a hardworking and dedicated man. He worked various jobs before beginning a long career with Martin Marietta Cement Company. When the company later became LaFarge Cement, Stanley remained with the company and retired after 38 years of faithful service.

In his free time, Stan enjoyed keeping his hands busy working on old cars, woodworking, repairing anything that needed fixed, troubleshooting electrical issues, camping with his children, and drinking coffee with his brothers and anyone with a fresh pot.

Stan overhauled several engines, enjoyed painting, had a tremendous soft spot for animals and frequently brought home injured or stray critters from work. Although he thoroughly enjoyed target shooting with his children and hunting with his son, over time it was noticed Stan always conspicuously missed when shooting at rabbits or squirrels.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Joann Prather; daughter, Anita Rausch; son, Stanley Allen Prather and wife Jacki; stepchildren, Teresa Branom and Rochelle Armbrister and husband Brent; eight grandchildren; siblings, Claude Willis “Todd” Prather and wife Shelley, and Julie Riddle; and many other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Arrillia “Imogene” Prather; stepmother, Jean Prather; and siblings, Leon Prather, Vernon Prather, Phillip Prather, Wayne Prather, Robin Trout, and Tim Williams.
