Dr. Stephanie Lynn Lowery

June 4, 1964 — February 9, 2026

Claremore

The family of Stephanie Lynn Lowery, AKA Stephanie Mohr, DVM, is heartbroken to share that she unexpectedly died on February 9, 2026, from an acute cardiovascular event.

Stephanie was born in 1964 in Midwest City, OK to Jack Leonard Mohr and June Elizabeth Cluderay Mohr. The family moved to Claremore in 1974, where they raised Quarter Horses and had a menagerie of pets including sheep, ducks, dogs, cats and cattle. This environment fostered Stephanie’s lifelong love of animals, particularly dogs and horses. She rode horses competitively from her early teens throughout her 30’s. After her equestrian days, she partnered with her beloved dogs, Mercy and Emmitt, in obedience and agility training and competitions. Later in life, she expanded to scent work with her Labrador Abbie.

Stephanie possessed a tremendous intellect which, combined with her love of animals, led her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She earned a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the College of Veterinary Medicine, Oklahoma State University in 1992 and practiced as a small animal generalist in the Tulsa area.

In the early 2000’s, her professional calling shifted to supporting the next generation. For thirteen years she taught at Memorial High School, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Due to her background, she primarily focused on AP Sciences classes, serving as an inspiration and mentor to countless students pursuing STEM careers.

Stephanie had many interests in life which included reading, travel and wildlife photography. She was an avid antique collector, particularly Old English Ironstone (before mid-1880’s), Fenton Glass and Steiff stuffed animals. This passion became Stephanie’s third career; along with her husband, Mike they could be found combing estate and yard sales, auctions and antique markets from Round Top, Texas to up and down the eastern seaboard, and everywhere in between. With the many treasures they collected, Stephanie and Mike founded two antique booths, ‘Rust and Relics’ and ‘Days Gone Bye’ within the Sailor Antique Mall, Claremore, OK.

Stephanie is survived by her husband, Michael Lowery, Claremore, OK; Sisters Kathleen Tressler of Souderton, PA; Constance Cherrix of Chincoteague Island, VA and Wendy (Edmond, NP) Hauser, DVM of Parker, CO. Her childlike wonder and sense of humor made her a much-loved aunt to 8 nieces and nephews, including Shannon Walker of Chincoteague Island, VA; Andrew Hauser of Denver, CO and Elizabeth Hauser, MD of Riverside, CA.

Please join us in a celebration of Stephanie’s life on February 26th, 6:00 PM at Payne Funeral Home, Claremore, OK. Stephanie will be interred this summer at Washington Memorial Chapel, Valley Forge, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Memorial High School Student Scholarship Fund, with proceeds awarded to a student pursuing a career in STEM, in Dr. Lowery’s name.
