Thom Moree

October 13, 1955 — October 17, 2025

Inola

In the early morning hours of Friday, October 17, 2025, Thom “moved in with Jesus” (John 14:2-3 My Father’s house has many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.)

Thom was the loving husband, soulmate, and best friend of his wife of 27 years Patti.

Thom was born in West Palm Beach, Florida but grew up in Missouri on the edge of the Mark Twain National Forest where he enjoyed hunting and fishing – two hobbies he enjoyed his whole life. Thom loved taking his grandkids fishing for crappie, or whatever happened to get caught on their lines. After a day of fishing, he loved having the family over for a fish fry with the fresh catch.

Another favorite past time of Thom’s was watching a movie from his rather large collection of action movies. Whether the theme was Western, Sci Fi, past, present or future, the common theme was the good guys always saved the day.

Thom served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He tells the story of being “10 minutes from

‘Nam”. Towards the end of the war, his unit was given orders and boarded a military plane. After flying for hours, the CO came over the intercom saying, “Boys, you just dodged a bullet. We’re 10 minutes from ‘Nam and we’re turning around”. Thom loved the military. He always said the Army made him the man he became. He loved his country, and felt strongly about defending it. After being discharged from the Army, Thom spent 14 years serving in the Army National Guard.

Thom eventually found his niche in the Oil and Gas Industry. He surveyed hundreds of miles of pipeline throughout the United States. He enjoyed the travel and getting to work in many parts of the US. Eventually he convinced Patti to join him on the road. Thom made many friends in the industry, and had many mentors who encouraged him to do the schooling to become a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). He successfully completed the course work and testing. Thom continued his work in the Oil and Gas Industry as a CWI/Construction Supervisor until he was diagnosed with inoperable metastatic colon cancer in May 2025.

Thom’s greatest love was the love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. During hard times between the Army and finding a “real” job, Thom had an encounter with Jesus. At that moment he knew beyond a doubt that he was truly loved by his Savior. He was never “preachy” about his faith, but preferred to profess his faith through his behavior.

Thom was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd Rudolph Moree and Betty Lou Glover Moree Murry; and his loving grandmother Ella “Gramell”.

He is survived by his wife Patti. Also, his daughter Heather Plaster (Tim) of Missouri, sisters Kathleen Moree and Darlene Jacobson (Jackie) both of Missouri. Stepdaughter Leah Gravis of Broken Arrow, OK, stepson David Gravis of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren Dakotah Moree, Cheyanne Bohannon (Dustin), Georgia Plaster (Dillon), Alex Otsuka, Hailey Otsuka; great grandchildren Dustin Bohannon, Sebastion Bohannon, Ariel Bohannon and Roland Moree; nephew Lloyd Edward Moree (Tiffany and son Russell), nephew Justin B. Jacobson (son Jackson Jacobson), and niece Shanna Kay Nelson (sons Kenny and Jonathon).
