Thomas Joseph Malin, 69, of Inola, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on October 1, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, Tom was the son of the late Stephen Michael Malin and Alice Lucille Malin.
Tom was a skilled heavy equipment technician who could fix anything — from toasters to tractors. Whether it was HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, or mechanical repairs, there was nothing he couldn’t handle. He earned his heavy equipment license and turned that passion into a lifelong career, eventually starting his own business where he continued doing the work he loved.
Tom had a heart as big as his skill set, and nothing showed that more than the love and care he gave his late wife, Linda. During her years of health challenges, Tom was her rock. He learned to perform her dialysis treatments at home and devoted himself to making her breakfast, lunch, and dinner every single day. His tireless dedication and compassion were a true reflection of his character and the deep love they shared. Even after Linda’s passing, he carried her memory with him, honoring her by baking desserts from her cookbooks and putting his own special touch on the recipes, with precision and detail, perfecting crusts and pie fillings.
Outside of work and family, Tom had a passion for life and the outdoors. He loved riding his RZR, exploring creeks, climbing rocks, and spending time at the lake — even in the winter when the snow covered the ground. He found great joy in his weekend trips to St. Louis and the country, which held a special place in his heart. He enjoyed cooking and sharing desserts with family, friends, neighbors, and even his doctors, whom he often surprised with homemade pies and desserts. He had the best neighbors and community, and he cared for them deeply.
Tom was also remembered for his playful, goofy nature, making everyday moments fun — whether it was being silly in grocery store aisles or blasting music in the car.
He also had a deep love for rock music and absolutely no love for country music — a fact he made well known. He wasn’t afraid to crank up the volume, even during school drop-offs, creating memories that his kids found more cool than embarrassing.
A lifelong learner, Tom often shared one of his favorite Benjamin Franklin quotes: “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.” His wisdom, humor, and zest for life left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Tom is survived by his two daughters, Stacey Duncan and husband Chris Duncan of Inola, Rhonda Weathers and husband Donnie Weathers of Claremore; his brother, Paul Malin of Tulsa; and his beloved grandchildren, Baley Beaver and wife Keiley Beaver of Claremore, Tyler Duncan of Inola, Kaleb Duncan of Tulsa, Elizabeth Duncan of Inola, Brandy Duncan of Inola, and Allan Duncan of Nowata. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Tom’s life was defined by love, laughter, hard work, and devotion. His legacy lives on through his family, his friends, and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
In honor of his memory, a celebration of life will be planned at a later date, where family and friends can come together to share stories and remember him.
