Tony Ray Cooksey

Memorial services for Tony Cooksey will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 10:00am at MMS-Payne Funeral Home Chapel. Tony passed away on Monday October 9, 2023, at the age of 68.

Tony Cooksey was born in Wellington, Kansas, on January 20, 1955, to Edgar and Donna (Conlin) Cooksey. As a child, Tony's family moved around due to his father's work at Boeing, but they eventually settled in Claremore. Tony graduated from Claremore High School with the class of 1973.

After high school, Tony began college at the University of Oklahoma and later Northeastern State University, where he became a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He began a career in telecommunications, dedicating over 40 years of his life to the field before retiring.

Tony found joy in life's simple pleasures, like floating down the Illinois River. He was a devoted fan of OU football, never missing a game. Tony enjoyed reading science fiction novels. However, above all else, he cherished his family. He loved spending time with his grandsons, attending their ball games, and spoiling them. Tony was looking forward to retiring just to be able to spend more time with his family. Tony will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughters, Courtney Blevins and her husband Quinton, and Elizabeth Cooksey and her boyfriend Stephen Rogers. His grandsons, Harrison and Chapman Blevins. He is also survived by his sisters, Joyce Washburn and Pamela Walker, and her husband Ronnie, and a special friend, Catherine Cooksey.
