Valeta Marie Stephens

Valeta Marie Stephens was born on August 24, 1934 in Oologah, Oklahoma to Henry and Grace Skidmore. She passed away on October 26, 2026 at home in Claremore at the age of 92.

She was married to Joe M Wagoner in 1951 for 19 years. She was united in marriage to Paul D Stephens in 1973 for 47 years. Mrs. Stephens lived in Claremore most of her life, passing away in the home her family moved to in 1936. Valeta was known for being hospitable; inviting many into her home. She loved playing with children and helped take care of numerous people in her life including her son Larry Wagoner for 20 years after a severe head injury. In her younger years Valeta loved cooking, baking, and enjoying outdoor activities with her grandchildren. In her later years, she stayed so busy that she had few hobbies but did love to read, do crossword puzzles and watch Sunday morning sermons.

Mrs. Stephens is survived by one son and two daughters-in-law; Roger and Darlene Wagoner and Patricia Wagoner; 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild.She was preceded in death by her husband Paul D Stephens, son Larry J Wagoner, brothers Wesley Skidmore, Harold Skidmore and Raymond Skidmore.
