Wilma (Willmara Ruth) Thompson (Kolm), age 89, of Claremore, OK, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
Wilma was born on November 16, 1936, in Meadowview, Alberta, Canada, to Froydolin “Fred” and Martha (Foss) Kolm, who had immigrated from Germany. Growing up in a German speaking home, German was her first language. She married Lawrence Lee Thompson on February 14, 1958, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Raised on a farm, Wilma developed a lifelong love of agriculture, faith, and family. For decades, she and her husband farmed grain, cattle, and race horses. Alongside her work on the farm, she held full-time secretarial positions, including work for the Canadian Provincial Government, Oklahoma State University’s College of Business, and Christ Presbyterian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Wilma was a lifelong learner, teacher, and woman of deep faith. She served as a Master Gardener and Bible Garden Tour Guide at Shepherd’s Cross, a sheep farm that shares agricultural faith-focused ministry in Claremore, Oklahoma. Wilma also taught Bible Study Fellowship for more than 15 years, and led children’s Bible studies for several decades. Her love of agriculture, horticulture, and ministry grew from her deep appreciation for God’s beautiful creation and His eternal Word. Wilma also enjoyed traveling and enthusiastically participated in mission work in Mexico, Brazil and Honduras.
Even while living in long-term nursing care, Wilma continued sharing her faith and encouraging others. She began and led “Wilma’s Bible Study” for four years, a meaningful chapter of ministry where friendships were formed. Her faith was not simply something she believed; it was something she lived and shared with the people around her.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Diane Louise Dickinson, and her husband, Peter, of Claremore, OK; and her son, Dwayne Leslie Thompson, and his wife, Stephanie, of Skiatook, OK. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Jason Lee Dickinson and his wife, Emily; Carolyn Roberta Hinkle and her husband, Fred; Jacqueline Nicole Hargis and her husband, Ivan; Nadia Alexandra Thompson; and Ayden Naomi Thompson. Her great-grandchildren are Zoe Grace Dickinson, Ella Faith Dickinson, Jaxson Lee Dickinson, Alyssa Kasey Hargis, and Ryan Deklyn Hargis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Larry Allen Thompson; and her brother, Leonard Kolm.
Wilma’s devotion to her faith, her family, and her community leaves a lasting legacy. She will be remembered for the love she gave, the wisdom she shared, and the faith that continued to shine through every season of her life.
